Our Creative Process
At 8760, our products come to life in two ways:
- Original Designs – We start from scratch, sketching ideas on paper, refining them through multiple discussions and edits before finalizing and moving to production.
- Curated & Customized Pieces – We select a pre-designed piece from a catalog and adjust details like fabric composition, waistband height, or pocket placement to align with our vision.
No matter the approach, every piece undergoes countless discussions, edits, and sampling before it’s ready for production and shipping.
I’ll be honest, I’m not a technical designer. That’s why I work with pre-designed pieces crafted by industry professionals who consider details I might overlook, like seam types, leg openings, and size grading. This allows me to focus on choosing high-quality fabrics and fine-tuning details to create a product that fits our brand.
When I start with an already-tested design, I can devote more attention to the fabric composition and other details that I can add or take away.
Some pieces in our collection are fully original designs. Crafted from a rough sketch, refined through reference photos, and brought to life in collaboration with our manufacturers. This process isn’t quick or easy; it can take anywhere from 6 weeks to a year, depending on complexity.
And that’s just the creative part. The technical side—sampling, adjusting fit, and finalizing materials—adds another layer of work. Custom pieces cost significantly more to develop, with each sample priced at least three times higher than a pre-designed piece. For example, sampling a catalog pair of shorts might cost $10, whereas a fully custom design could start at $30+, plus shipping.
By blending both approaches, we ensure that every 8760 piece meets our high standards while keeping production practical and efficient.
